Valentino ROSSI TURTLE aka TARTARUGA Design History
Valentino Rossi born is an Italian professional motorcycle road racer and multiple MotoGP World Champion. He is the only rider in the history to have won all the different World Championship category: 125cc, 250cc, 500cc and MotoGP.
Valentino Rossi is one of the most successful motorcycle racers of all time with nine Grand Prix World Championships – seven of which are in the premier class.
In 2013 Valentino Rossi had a ‘turtle aka ‘tartaruga’ helmet design specially created by famous Aldo Drudi for the Mugello race in Italy.
On top of the AGV K3 SV helmet depict a cartoon turtle with its eyes gazing forwards above the visor.
Valentino Rossi has a long history using ‘turtle’ as a mascot way back before he started using the number 46 or the ‘Sun and Moon’ images that are his signature Valentino’s helmet designs.
The "TURTLE" helmet also contained another hidden meaning. Since his return to Yamaha in 2013, Valentino had struggled to keep pace with the top three riders namely Dani Pedrosa, Jorge Lorenzo and Marc Marquez.
The turtle was a symbolic self-deprecating acknowledgement that he was at that time too slow in racing and playing catch up to the top three MotoGP riders.
As you can see on the left and right side of the full face, there are a group of stick figures running around the base. The yellow stick figure representing Valentino Rossi is struggling to keep up with a blue stick figure signifying Dani Pedrosa, a red stick figure symbolizing Jorge Lorenzo and lastly an orange stick figure representing Marc Marquez.

AGV K3 SV TARTARUGA full face helmet aerodynamic shell shape is optimized for stability that features an intergrated hidden rear spoiler to reduce turbulence. The narrow chin bar is streamlined to cut through the oncoming wind and deflecting turbulence thus stabilizing the full face helmet at high speed.
AGV K3 SV full face helmet has total of 3 front top air intake vents, 1 chin air vent intake and two rear air extractors vents.
The rear spoiler is huge but aesthetically blended into the shape of the helmet.
The function of the rear exhaust extractors is to extract the stale hot air inside the helmet and deliver a consistent flow of cool air to your head while riding.
The integrated rear spoiler provides a smoother airflow over the helmet which create less turbulence as the speed increases.

XQRS (Xtra Quick Release System) clear visor mechanism allow tool-free removal and replacement of the faceshield in seconds.

Inner retractable sun visor allow riders to instantly block out UV strong sunlight when riding. For those wearing spectacles, it is convenient for you as there is no need to switch to wearing sunglasses.
AGV K3 SV full face helmet inner sunshield is activated by the red tab at the left side near to the clear shield. By pushing up and down with your left hand, you can lift the inner sunvisor Up /Down while you are riding.
The integrated sunshield is scratch-resistant and can be replaced easily without any special tools.
AGV K3 SV TARTARUGA Full Face Helmet Padding
AGV K3 SV TARTARUGA full face helmet cheekpads and inner lining is removable and washable. You can easily pull out the windproof chin strap protection snap to make it removeable.
The overall padding has improved compared to the past AGV K3 full face helmets. Now the new AGV K3 SV helmet liner material feels plush with Dry Comfort interior and the color is sleek black.
The chin strap attachment system uses the simple yet effective double D-ring which are extra-thick.
Fully removable and washable DryLex inner liner and cheek pads are sanitized with hygienic treatment.
